Know THY Field Surface

Fantastic effort!

This is a great picture to show the loose plastic fill being used on a fast-growing number of artificial surfaces. Most players finish the game lightly dusted (on their socks) with the greenish stuff, which has to be added and spread periodically.

The surface produces a very consistent bounce, though it is a higher than normal bounce compared to well-watered natural grass.

My experience is that this is a great surface in rainy climes since it will shed a whole lot more water than a natural surface. But remember that all surfaces are much more slick in the rain.

Heading a ball on this kind of artificial turf in the rain leaves some of those plastic fill pieces on the player's forehead.
